A household name and the second-largest fast-food chain worldwide, Burger King® began in 1953 as Insta-Burger King in Jacksonville Florida in the U.S of A. A year later, this popular spot rebranded to Burger King in 1954 and the rest is delicious history.

In May 2013, Burger King® came to South Africa and opened its first restaurant to eager followers in Cape Town. The South African launch was a joint venture between Western Cape-based and Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed investment company, Grand Parade Investments. Today, over a hundred outlets have opened their doors throughout Mzansi.

In November 2021, Burger King® was acquired by private equity firm, Emerging Capital Partners (ECP).

Burger King® South Africa plans to keep feeding the South African economy by increasing its number of outlets and creating even more permanent jobs for historically disadvantaged individuals.
